The OVBA, in partnership with AdamBarkerPhotography, is pleased to announce the 2013 OGDEN VALLEY FALL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP. This intensive weekend of outdoor and indoor sessions will help you to create those 5-star images of this gorgeous season. Utah’s own Adam Barker will conduct this workshop in the beautiful Ogden Valley for the second year.
Attendees of all skill levels are welcome to attend. It is recommended that you own and have at least a basic working knowledge of a digital SLR camera. Read more about Adam and join us for an inspiring weekend. Here is what people are saying about his workshops:
“Having participated in workshops with different professional photographers over the years, I continue to believe that Adam’s approach to teaching is truly unique. During my personal workshop, he revealed a unique ability to teach me a new way of looking at this beautiful three dimensional world and how best to capture that in a two dimensional medium. Photographic concepts and techniques I had been reading about for years in books finally came to light for me. As a bonus, his fun positive attitude and passion for photography is infectious!” Steve Schaefer
“I attended Adam’s fall color workshop in Utah’s Wasatch mountains. Although I have lived here for 30 years Adam showed me places I have never seen before and taught me new techniques for capturing images of the of the place I love. Great informative weekend.” Kit Smith
“Adam was great! His enthusiasm and can do attitude was infectious and made it fun.” Keith

Barker has produced imagery for a varied array of commercial clients including Black Diamond Equipment, Volkswagen of America, Deer Valley Resort, Suunto Watches, Loon Outdoors and many more. When not shooting, Barker can be found spending time with his wife and two sons, or “product testing” in the mountains, on the river, or wherever else nature happens to call. Testimonials for workshops by Adam Barker.
Ogden Valley is a scenic, high mountain valley east of Ogden, Utah. It consists of three picturesque towns (Huntsville, Eden and Liberty) surrounded by pristine mountains. At the center of the valley is beautiful Pineview Reservoir. The Valley is noted for three major resorts, and is one of the few places in North America to offer in winter, world class skiing and snowboarding, and in summer, recreation including boating, other water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding and climbing. MSN.com rated the Upper Ogden Valley one of the 10 Most Scenic Areas for Fall Colors, a very worthy accolade. The peak of fall foliage color is generally around September 23rd for reds, and September 29th for yellows.
The location for indoor sessions and lodging options are centralized at Moose Hollow Condominiums in Eden. A block of rooms are blocked out for us until August 1, 2013, (although there may still be availability after that). We have lodging packages included in the pricing options below. Condominium lodging is based on single, double or triple occupancy, with private bedrooms and bathrooms for each person. Enjoy the spacious Clubhouse and outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi (see pictures here).
Details and What to Bring:
Autumn in Northern Utah is a wondrous time for photography. It’s also a time prone to rapid and unpredictable changes in weather. As photographers, it is crucial to be prepared with the right apparel and equipment to capture memorable and meaningful images. We will shoot rain or shine during this workshop, and ask you to have the necessary gear that will allow you to shoot in any of the adverse weather conditions that may occur.
We will be at 5,000 to 9,000 ft in elevation a majority of the trip. It is not uncommon for morning and evening temperatures to be near freezing. Please take a moment to review the recommended apparel and equipment lists below. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call Adam at 801-550-9141. (If you have questions about local lodging and transportation call Pam at 801-920-5068.)
Shooting locations are entirely dependent upon foliage and shooting conditions. At times we will be shooting on or nearby the roadside. It is also likely that we will venture off trail to pursue lesser known photo locations. Please be prepared with the appropriate footwear, and understand that there will be moderate to difficult hiking for short periods of time depending on the location.
Meals will be optional as a group or on your own. Due to our early starts in the morning, we recommend stocking up on breakfast foods like fruit, cheese, and energy bars that can be eaten in the car or on the trail. Our sunrise shoots don’t really allow much time for breakfast if it’s not on the go! Additionally, we recommend stocking up on snacks such as beef jerky, trail mix, nuts, cheese, energy bars, water, etc.
The Valley Market is located nearby at 2555 N. Wolf Creek Drive, Eden, UT.
Store Hours: 7 AM – 10 PM, Monday – Saturday and 7 AM – 9 PM, Sunday.
